Your Prescription Drug Benefits

You automatically receive coverage under the Prescription Drug Plan when you elect any of the medical plan options.  You're encouraged, but not required, to use the MLH Employee Pharmacy to fill prescriptions for acute care.  Maintenance prescriptions must be filled by the Employee Pharmacy.  The cost of your prescription will depend on where you get it filled and if it is a brand name or generic drug.  You'll pay the least for maintenance and acute care medications when you use the Employee Pharmacy and select a generic equivalent.

Aetna Pharmacy Retail Network

You can purchase up to a 30-day supply of most acute care generic and brand-name prescription drugs at any Aetna participating pharmacy (most major retail pharmacy chains/stores participate in the Aetna network).

The Aetna prescription drug benefit is a three-tier prescription drug program.

MLH Employee Pharmacy

You and your dependents will purchase maintenance and acute care drugs (30-day or 90-day supply) for a lower copay through the Main Line Health Employee Pharmacy.  The Pharmacy is located at Bryn Mawr Hospital.  A daily courier service runs between Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, Lankenau Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Riddle Memorial Hospital pharmacies for pick-up and drop-off of all prescriptions filled by the pharmacy.  Since not all employees will have reasonable access to the pharmacy, using the Employee Pharmacy for acute care prescriptions is voluntary.
